Biological Activity Reaction Test (BART)
Biological Activity Reaction Test (BART) is a water testing system designed to detect nuisance bacteria. It employs multiple tests to assess the activity (aggressiveness) of these bacteria by measuring the time lag (TL) from the start of the test to the observation of a reaction. A longer TL before observing any activity indicates lower aggressiveness of the bacteria in the tested sample. Results are obtained by observation after 2-8 days of room temperature incubation.
The environment contains a wide variety of bacteria that can cause various issues, including slimes, plugging, discoloration, cloudiness, corrosion, and infections. Detecting and identifying such a diverse range of bacteria with a single test is not easy. However, their impact on water can render it unsafe, unacceptable, or even unavailable due to flow losses caused by plugging or equipment failure resulting from corrosion.
At LMATS , we utilize a simple yet effective method for monitoring the population size and/or activity of specific groups of bacteria.
